星星其实本身就是个谎言。我们晚上看到的见到的点点繁星，其实是某些也许早已消失的古老天体许久之前反射的光。即便如此，我们还是会凝望星空，告诉自己星星饱含真理，诉说人类自身的奥秘。天体物理学家CarlSagan曾经写到“宇宙就在我们内心，我们本身就是某种星体物质所构成，而我们自己也是宇宙了解其本身的一种方式。”

再没有比梵高更痴迷于星星奥秘的艺术家了。这位荷兰后印象派画家年11月的时候在一封自责信中写到“我曾经走上迷途，试图触摸星辰，但是他们太过浩瀚，又一次的失败，我已经厌倦了”。梵高这是在责备自己---五个月前梵高在法国南部的圣保罗精神病院休养，这个精神病院就是那年冬天他承认自己精神崩溃之后一直待的地方。就在那时，他创作了一副自己认为‘一无是处’的画，他这是在指责自己画的这幅画。

我们提及的这幅画（梵高本人坚持认为一无是处的作品）如今居艺术长河中极具盛名的画作之列，名为：星空---这幅绘出骚动星空的巨作，与以往人们理解宁静星空大不相同。到底是为什么，梵高却不喜这幅画呢？尽管很多人都将这幅标志性画作视如珍宝，因为这幅画通过遥远星辰提炼出内心焦虑感。但是画家本人却认为这幅画脱离了生活与自然本身的节奏。总而言之，他认为这幅画太抽象了。

当我看到这一系列由马来西亚摄影师GreyChow拍摄的东南亚壮丽星空组图时，梵高对自己呈现出的非凡视觉盛宴的不喜再次启发了我。同《星空》一样，这些照片非常吸引人，它们都是用扭曲的线条来表现我们实际观察到的宇宙。Chow的作品中，最令人惊奇的是一张拍摄位于印尼瓜哇岛东部的Bromo火山上的星空图，摄影师将这副作品命名为《流动的时间》。
